Christina Perri

March 11, 2014.

HURRY UP AND GET HERE SO I CAN BUY CHRISTINA PERRI'S NEW ALBUM!!!

Since her first released, I've been anxiously awaiting her next. If you haven't purchased "Lovestrong.", I assure you, it's well worth the cost and I am sure this new album will be no different.

Her first single from her highly anticipated "Head or Heart" album is called "Human" and it could very well give "Jar of Hearts" a run for its money. It's just that good.

I think the thing I love the most about her music is it's just so real. Her lyrics are relatable and her powerful sound makes you want to blare the music and scream the chorus at the top of your lungs. "Human", much like all of Christina's music, is filled with absolute raw emotion and I think that's what makes her music so good. When she sings, it's believable. She means exactly what she's singing and it makes her music all the more beautiful.

Christina will be going on tour for two months in the spring, so be on the look out for those show dates.

Avicii

Avicii's latest is called "Hey Brother" and it is off of his latest album, True.

This song is different the usual EDM sound we know and love Avicii for. In fact, it has a bit of a twang to it and it isn't until the middle of the song that the beat begins to show signs of an EDM track. To me, the merging of Bluegrass and EDM is unfathomable because the two seem so distant from one another, but somehow Avicii has done the unthinkable and made them a united force.

As for the video, holy cow! The amount of chills I personally felt throughout the whole thing was insane. The storyline is absolutely beautiful and it has the ability to resonate with nearly every viewer in some way, shape or form.

Avicii's album, True, was released in September, but I can't say I've listened to it in its entirety. It's definitely on my list of music to check out as I'm beginning to think that everything Avicii produces is worth a listen!

Kelly Clarkson

Christmas is getting closer and closer, which means it is time for me to post about my favorite new Christmas song.

The song is called "4 Carats" and it's from Kelly Clarkson's Wrapped in Red album, which released at the end of October. This song reminds me of "Santa Baby" in a way, but instead of having a large "Grown Up Christmas List", Kelly has only one thing she's asking for this Christmas. A massive rock.

For us average folks who make enough to buy a plastic ring out of the vending machine, this song may seem a bit greedy and ridiculous, but I assure you, the lyrics are simply adorable and the sound is a whole lot of fun.

The beginning is a bit odd because all I can think of is Blue Man Group with their PVC pipe instruments playing along with a didgeridoo, but once Kelly comes in with the lyrics, the vibe of the song is just pure Christmas joy.

The album as a whole is fantastic. Kelly has a nice blend of the classics along with her own originals. Speaking of the classics, those songs have to be done right. If you stray from tradition and completely lose the original sound, you're running a huge risk of losing listeners right then and there. That's why Kelly's album is so great. She sticks to the traditional sounds we have all grown up with and she does them exceedingly well.

I know I say this time and time again, but this girl has some serious talent and she understands music, but more importantly, she understands her audience and that's what's important when it comes to making a successful Christmas album.

If you haven't heard the whole album yet, get on it! I assure you, it will be the best $10 you ever spend.

Calvin Harris & Alesso ft. Hurts

Food poisoning has gotten the best of me this weekend, so just as a fair warning, this post is going to be short.

I thought about sharing my favorite song from the last 48 hours, but I decided that classic Disney songs aren't super fitting to the premise of my blog.

Then again, maybe they are.

-----------------------------------------------

Check out "Under Control" by Calvin Harris & Alesso ft. Hurts:

Told you it was going to be short.

Max & Macy Kate (feat. Kurt Hugo Schneider)

Let me just start off by saying that Kurt Hugo Schneider is brilliant. If you don't know who I'm talking about, get acquainted with his work because he is kind of a big deal. The guy is a musical genius and has put together some of the best YouTube videos around.

With "Jingle Bell Rock", Max & Macy Kate did a fresh take on a Christmas classic. The video is completely tricked out with the latest and greatest Samsung devices and there is never a dull moment. I mean, if I had to pick out the worst part of the video, I'd have to say it was the ending. Why? Because it ended. As cheesy as this may sound, this song is just pure holiday joy.

Looking solely at the vocals, they're perfect. Max and Macy Kate have a blend that sends chills all over your body. They not only look good together, but they can really belt it out.

The thing that impressed me most about this video is the fact that it was done in one take. Let me repeat that. This video was shot in ONE TAKE! Craziness!

All around, this video is fantastic. The technology, the vocals, the song itself...all fantastic.

Colbie Caillat

Better than "Bubbly"?? I think so! Colbie Caillat's new single, "Hold On" is one of her best.

Don't be fooled by the title, it's not a cover of the Wilson Phillips song, but it does mirror a few other artists. Personally, the song reminds me of Ellie Goulding mixed with Sara Bareilles (back from her "Gravity" days). I realize that's an odd combination to envision, and maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I hear. I'll let you be the judge on that one.

According to Rolling Stone, Colbie is aiming for a new sound, one that's upbeat and louder, for this next album. She also told Rolling Stone that she's been writing music with Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds recently. Her first single off of the album, "Hold On", was co-written by Tedder.

If "Hold On" is just a sample of what's to come, I'm extremely excited for her next album, which is set to release early next year.

Check out "Hold On" because it is worth a listen!

MKTO

The greatest part of my job would have to be going to 1075 KISS FM Lounge events. Seeing artists perform some of their songs in an acoustic setting really allows their talent to shine through, which makes the performances that much greater.

Tonight we had MKTO in the lounge and it was a phenomenal performance. You may recognize the guys, Malcom Kelley and Tony Oller, from the TeenNick series Gigantic. Malcom also had a role in Lost, as well as a few other acting gigs. In addition to Gigantic, Tony was in the Disney Channel short series, As the Bell Rings, which also starred Demi Lovato.

Not only can these two act, but they also sing. Extremely well. Check out their single, "Classic":

The two are doing the ever popular combination of pop and rap, and usually I'm not a fan of that blend, but the way they do it is seamless. Their chemistry is apparent in their music and at the end of the day, I think that bond helps their music to be better than others trying to produce the same type of sound.

"Thank You" is just as good as "Classic", if not better in my opinion, and it's definitely worth a listen:

MKTO has some serious talent and I'm very excited to hear more of their music in the future.

**Adorbs**

Changing it up

Linking artists has been fun and I've definitely learned a lot, but it has become more of a chore rather than a passion at times. Finding music that is worth a listen should be FUN and that's why I am switching back to my old style of posting and just making this a space dedicated to awesome music and sharing it with all of you!

Enjoy :)

Lady Antebellum --> Dave Barnes

Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum collaborated on a Christmas song with Grammy nominated Dave Barnes. The song is called "Christmas Tonight" and the video stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Alex Beh.

Josh Kelley --> Lady Antebellum

Well it seems that I've backed myself into a corner. I have tried for days and days (almost a month really) to find a connection for Josh Kelley, but I keep coming up empty handed.

Sure, he's married to Katherine Heigl and yes his brother is in Lady Antebellum, but beyond that, I am coming up with no direct connections. Yes, I could probably say that he met Kelly Clarkson at the 2008 CMAs, but that's a fact that I don't find interesting nor is it compelling.

Because of this, I have decided to backtrack a bit and use Lady Antebellum again as the subject for my post in hopes of finding new connections and getting back on track with my blog.

In honor of the first day of December, I've decided to pick a Christmas song by Lady A. Perhaps I will try to do something with that for the rest of the month? We shall see if I can pull that one off.

Until then, here's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" by Lady Antebellum.

Check back for more music that's worth a listen and to see who I connect Lady Antebellum with.

Lady Antebellum --> Josh Kelley

Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum is the brother of Josh Kelley, who is married to Katherine Heigl.

Check out "Amazing" by Josh here:

Josh has also written a few songs. The video below features Keaton Simons and he's singing the song he and Josh wrote together. The song is called "Masterpiece" and it is worth a listen.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for more music that's worth a listen!!

Fleetwood Mac --> Lady Antebellum

In my opinion, Stevie Nicks, from Fleetwood Mac, is one of the greatest singers from the past 50 years.

Check out her awesome collaboration on CMT Crossroads with Lady Antebellum! LOVE IT!!

Check back tomorrow to see who I connect Lady Antebellum with and for more music that's worth a listen!

Colbie Caillat --> Fleetwood Mac

It's true!! Colbie Caillat has met Fleetwood Mac on many occasions. Her father was a music producer and co-produced their albums Rumours and Tusk.

Crazy!!

For Fleetwood Mac, I think I'll just go ahead and share my favorite song of theirs, "Landslide".

Check back tomorrow to see who I connect Fleetwood Mac with and for more music that's worth a listen!

Jason Reeves --> Colbie Caillat

Jason Reeves has written a number of songs, including a couple for Colbie Caillat. Have you heard of "Bubbly"? Yeah, that was written by him.

Check out this collaboration he did with Colbie called "No Lies". I am in love with this song!!

Check back tomorrow to see who I link Colbie Caillat with and for more music that's worth a listen!

Kara DioGuardi --> Jason Reeves

Kara DioGuardi has had her music featured on over 100 million records. 100 million +.

HOLY COW!

Girl has undeniably got talent. Not only does she have talent, but she loves to discover talent. Kara explains in the beginning of this video how she found Jason Reeves and they even went on to write a song together.

Check out their original song "Terrified":

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see who I connect Jason Reeves to and for more music that's worth a listen!

P.S. I promise there will be a post tomorrow, unlike the last week or so. I've been moving and Worth a Listen got put on the back burner for a few days, for which I apologize.

Kelly Clarkson --> Kara Dioguardi

Kelly Clarkson released her first single off of her Wrapped in Red album, "Underneath the Tree". It's a little early for Christmas music in my opinion, but it's a good song none the less.

Kelly had a bonus track on her Stronger album featuring Kara Dioguardi called "The Sun Will Rise". Kara is a singer-songwriter and has written songs for many artists (Kelly, Carrie Underwood, P!nk, Cobra Starship).

Check back tomorrow to see who I link Kara Dioguardi to and for more music that's worth a listen!

Thursday, October 17, 2013

Katy Perry --> Kelly Clarkson

Katy Perry has written a few songs for other artists. "Long Shot", performed by Kelly Clarkson, was one of those.

Kelly is currently working on a new album called Wrapped in Red. The album is set to drop later this month and is a Christmas album. Be sure to check back here for the latest on singles from Wrapped in Red.

To hold you over until then, check out some awesome covers by Kelly here.

Travie McCoy --> Katy Perry

Travie McCoy met Katy Perry through their producer and they were both on the 2008 Warped Tour. The two also dated for awhile.

Rumor has it, "Circle the Drain" is about their break-up...

Prism is Katy's new album and it is set to release in just a few days, but some of the album has leaked on Tumblr. Those songs alone make me extremely excited for her album!!

Check back tomorrow for who I connect Katy Perry with and for more music that's worth a listen!

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Stooshe --> Travie McCoy

Stooshe and Travie McCoy were label mates and even collaborated on a song.

In 2012 Stooshe released a single called "Love Me" and it features the lead vocalist of Gym Class Heroes. Stooshe also opened for the band on The Papercut Chronicles II tour.

Stooshe's "Love Me" is a fun song with a new spin on an old sound. They also had Travie in the mix, which makes the song worth a listen.

Travie McCoy also recently released a song called "Rough Water", which features Jason Mraz. I am in love with this track. I think the two are just a great balance when it comes to musicality and style. They blend extremely well together and I would love to see them do another collaboration later on down the road.

Check back tomorrow to see who I connect Travie McCoy with and for more music that's worth a listen!

JLo --> Stooshe

JLo worked with several acts for her Dance Again World Tour. For her UK and Ireland concerts, Stooshe opened up the show.

Stooshe is a group of three women from London, England. Their sound varies based on the track and I like that they are so musically diverse.

"My Man Music" has more of an urban tropical feel in regards to sound and their harmonies are pure perfection.

"Black Heart" is all about the soulful sound, which these ladies are masters of. Their original concept was to be a more soulful and urban version of the Spice Girls. With this track, I think they've definitely achieved that goal and more.

Check back tomorrow to see who I connect Stooshe with and for more music that's worth a listen!

Enrique Iglesias --> JLO

Enrique Iglesias toured with Jennifer Lopez in 2012 on her Dance Again World Tour. This was JLo's first world tour, which to me is crazy! JLo is super good and she's been around for quite awhile. I would have assumed she had toured worldwide multiple times by now, but apparently not. For the North American leg of the tour, Enrique co-headlined with JLo.

JLo has a new album coming out in early 2014; however, she has released one single from the album already. The track is called "Live It Up" and it features Pitbull.

This single is good, but my favorite JLo song would have to be "Dance Again" featuring Pitbull, so it's a bit of a throwback track, but I love the beat.

While writing this, I'm beginning to notice that JLo and Pitbull have done quite a number of songs together. It's a collaboration that is definitely working, so I'm very excited to see if they've got any others on her new album.

I already said that this song is my favorite by JLo, but the mash-up of this song with Lady Gaga's "Americano" is fabulous! I realize it's by GLEE, which is a major turn off for some people. If you are one of those people, trust me and give it a shot! Kate Hudson does a GREAT job with the two songs!

Pitbull --> Enrique Iglesias

Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias have collaborated more than once and will be again for a track on Enrique's tenth studio album.

Check out their latest collaboration, "Tchu Tchu Tcha":

Enrique has already released three singles off of his new album. The album is set to drop sometime next month and it has also been announced that it will be a bilingual album. I'm very excited to see what Enrique has been working on and who he collaborates with next!

Check out his latest single, "Loco" feat. Romeo Santos:

In addition to his collaborations with Romeo Santos and Pitbull, Enrique has also announced that he will work with Marco Antonio Solis on a track for his new album.

Check back tomorrow to see who I connect Enrique Iglesias with and for more music that's worth a listen!

Jason Derulo --> Pitbull

Did you know that Jason Derulo has written songs for Pitbull? In fact, he wrote songs for Pitbull before his own solo career took off. On Jason's new album, he has a track called "Fire", which features Pitbull.

Recently Pitbull released a song called "Timber" and it features Ke$ha. The song hasn't gotten a whole lot of views on YouTube just yet, but I think that's about to change because it is so good and definitely worth a listen!

Check back tomorrow to see who I connect Pitbull with and for more music that's worth a listen!

Sami Tsui --> Jason Derulo

I'm working on a new concept for my blog -- six degrees of separation featuring artists that are worth a listen -- not 100% sure on how this will work out, but it's worth a try!

For those of you who don't know what I mean by six degrees of separation, it's the theory that you can connect yourself to someone else by way of six people or less. Maybe you've heard of someone having a Bacon Number -- it's the same thing, but that's referencing their connection to Kevin Bacon specifically.

I am going to start linking my posts with this same concept. Each artist will be linked to the day before and ultimately, the day to come.

Here we go!

To refresh your memory, I posted about Sam Tsui the other day and his cover of Miley's "Wrecking Ball". A few months ago Sam did a cover of "The Other Side" by Jason Derulo. He was even fortunate enough to get Jason himself in the video!

Today's featured song is by Jason Derulo and is called "Talk Dirty". It's been out for a couple months and was released as a single from his latest album, "Tattoos". The song features 2 Chainz and really shows his musical diversity.

Check back tomorrow to see who's next in this linkage of artists and for more music that's worth a listen!

Monday, October 7, 2013

Sam Tsui

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am one of Sam Tsui's biggest fans. If anyone deserves to make it in the music industry, it's this guy. He's got serious talent and a great voice for pop music.

Check out his cover of "Wrecking Ball" because it is worth a listen!

Icona Pop

Everyone knows Icona Pop's hit song, "I Love It", but trust me when I say, the group will NOT be a one hit wonder. The Swedish duo's newest track, "All Night", is just as good, if not better than "I Love It".

"All Night" has a great dance beat and is worth a listen.

Friday, October 4, 2013

Sara Bareilles

It's a Sara Bareilles kind of day for me, so I've decided it's only right to make one of her tracks the song of the day.

It was hard to choose which song of Sara's to feature in my blog because let's face it, what song of hers isn't worth a listen?!? To sum it up, the woman is fabulous and so is her music.

"Bottle It Up" is my favorite song of hers and it is from her 2007 album "Little Voice", so it is a little bit of a throwback, but oh well. Once a great song, always a great song!

Check out Sara Bareilles' "Bottle It Up" because it is worth a listen!

Throwback: A*Teens

Let's be honest, we all remember A*Teens and their hit single "Upside Down (Bouncin' Off the Ceiling)", but who remembers all of the awesomeness in the music video!?

The Swedish group was popular in the late 90s and their video reminds us just how fabulous that decade was.

"Upside Down" is from their first album, Teen Spirit and it is an amazing blast from the past. Turn up the volume and prepare to jam out because this flashback is worth a listen!

New Politics

I feel like the term boy band doesn't apply to this group, but they are a group of guys, who sing alternative rock music and they're from Denmark. So basically they're adorable, they can sing and they have accents. What could be better?!

New Politics released "Harlem" in late February, but it is just about to get some Top 40 radio love in the next couple of months.

"Harlem" has a great sound that is different than the usual rock sound and completely different than the traditional boy band sound. If I was to compare their sound to another group, I'd say they're sort of like A Silent Film.

Check out their unique sound and their soon to be hit single, "Harlem". New Politics are worth a listen.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry's "Walking on Air" is her latest single and in my opinion, is the best off of Prism so far.

For me, anything by Katy Perry is automatically worth a listen.

And just for fun, some Katy Perry music from her previous album. The track is called "Pearl" and it is my all-time favorite song of hers.

Monday, September 30, 2013

ZEDD and Hayley Williams

ZEDD and Hayley Williams. "Stay the Night". Fabulous. Just fabulous.

It's worth a listen. Need I say more?

Marina and the Diamonds

This stumble upon happened while watching an Ellie Goulding music video and this was a suggestion at the end of it.

The first suggestion was for a song called "Lies" by Marina and the Diamonds. I will gladly admit that I'm not as well cultured in music from other countries as I should be, so if I'm a little late to the party on this song, you'll have to forgive me.

After doing a little research, Marina Lambrini Diamandis is a Welsh singer who came second on the BBC Sounds of 2010 poll list to none other than Ellie Goulding. So this girl definitely has some talent.

"Lies" immediately captured my attention by the extremely powerful lyrics and striking music video. Much like Lorde's "Royals", Marina just stares straight at the camera and sings. To me, nothing is more compelling than a singer who doesn't need all of the extra garbage in their video and just puts their music out there.

After scrolling through the comments, people were suggesting that you check out the acoustic version too. I have to say, they're right. The song is even better acoustic.

If you are looking for something a little less depressing and faster paced, she has that too. Check out "Electra Heart". It's still about heartbreak, but the beat is sick!

Oh yea, and there's also a guy in a fox mask in it, which automatically makes me happy because it makes me think of Ylvis.

If you've noticed in the title of all of the songs, they say "Part ##". If you watch all of her videos in order, they tell an amazing story. This concept is currently being done by Fall Out Boy as well. Perhaps it's going to become a new trend?

Not only these two songs (three if you count the acoustic version), but her entire album is worth a listen.

John Newman

John Newman's "Cheating" has been on Vevo for about a month, but has just recently been featured as a current favorite by the YouTube channel.

A few comments on the video have compared John to a male Adele, and I can slightly see the resemblance when talking about the level of emotion in each of their music. Oh yea, and they're both British. So two things in common.

The song's cool sound and John's unique style makes this song worth a listen.

Friday, September 27, 2013

Cher Lloyd

Cher Lloyd's latest single "I Wish" featuring T.I. has a solid beat with a phenomenal sound. The girl has definitely got a hit with this one!

The only problem I have with the song is every time the chorus comes on, I automatically think of Skee-Lo's "I Wish".

Putting that chorus issue aside, Cher Lloyd's "I Wish" showcases her unique voice and T.I. Both of these facts alone make this song worth a listen.

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Forever the Sickest Kids

To be honest, this is the first song by Forever the Sickest Kids that I've listened to. Ever. It came up as a suggestion on YouTube and I figured why not give it a listen? So glad I did! "Nikki" is a GREAT song!

I can't compare "Nikki" to their previous work, but I can say that Forever the Sickest Kids reminds me a lot of All Time Low with a little bit of a harder sound. This song in particular isn't punk rock, even though that's how they're classified on iTunes, but it's definitely a sexy rock track.

All I can say is this song is one that you'll want to keep on repeat and it's worth a listen. Need I say more?

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy is having a really great year so far! For starters, "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)" was a massive hit. Their latest single, "Alone Together", definitely has the same potential.

"Alone Together" has the traditional FOB sound, which makes it so great. Also, Patrick Stump has one of the best voices in rock today, so that helps push this song to a whole new level of awesome.

The music video is slightly freaky, I mean he is tortured and then kills people in it, but what video isn't creepy/overly sexual anymore?!
** Suggestion, watch the video once to say you have seen it and then listen to the song again without looking at the computer screen.

"Alone Together" is soon to be another hit for FOB, which makes it worth a listen.

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

The Veronicas

You may know The Veronicas from their song "Untouched", but to Americans, the rest of their songs/albums have flown completely under the radar, which is extremely sad as their music is phenomenal.

"Everything I'm Not" is from the album The Secret Life of...The Veronicas. They are technically classified as rock artists; however, I would argue the song resembles the pop/rock vibe that Avril Lavigne's music has.

The song deserves more exposure than it's getting currently, so check it out, give them some YouTube love, hit the like button, check out the rest of their music, etc. because "Everything I'm Not" and The Veronicas are worth a listen.

Monday, September 23, 2013

Lorde

"Tennis Court" is by Lorde, the 16 year-old singer from New Zealand who also sings "Royals", and it is excellent! The video is a little weird, mainly the "yeahs", but the lyrics are really well-written.

The beat does remind me of "Royals", but I can overlook the similarities because the girl is so talented. I firmly believe that she will not be a one hit wonder.

Much like "Royals", "Tennis Court" is worth a listen.

Sunday, September 22, 2013

OneRepublic

Newish music from OneRepublic is called "Counting Stars". It has been out for months, but it is just starting to get some radio love.

"Counting Stars" wasn't my favorite song the first time I heard it, or the second, or the third; however, lately, it has been growing on me and now the chorus gets stuck in my head daily (for good reasons). The chorus is super catchy and Ryan Tedder has some serious vocal talent!

Ryan Tedder's voice alone makes the song good, but the unique feel to the music makes the song worth a listen.

Saturday, September 21, 2013

Bonnie McKee

We already know this girl can sing -- "American Girl" -- but many people don't realize that Bonnie McKee has been extremely present in the music for years. In fact, she has numerous hits, but she never sang them herself.

Bonnie wrote a majority of Katy Perry's #1 songs, including "Roar" and "Teenage Dream".

This video features Bonnie singing a medley of her hit songs. I guarantee you will know each and every one of them, but hearing them by their original author makes them that much greater and makes this medley worth a listen.

Bo Burnham

Bo Burnham isn't for everybody. If you're easily offended, then his music most likely won't be your favorite, but "Nerds" is a great song with a fabulous message. It's got the typical, crafty Bo lines, but in a way that isn't offensive. In fact, the song is all about supporting those who may be victims of bullying, which I find slightly ironic based on the lyrics of the rest of his music...

The message of the song automatically makes it worth a listen.

Avicii

AVICII!!!! Oh how I love thee!

"You Make Me" is his latest song and it is typical Avicii. By that I mean, the song has a strong dance beat and the lyrics are very well written.

The concept for the video is great as well. It takes place in a skating rink, which automatically makes the video awesome, but it also reminds me of one of my favorite musicals, "West Side Story".

In my opinion, anything by Avicii is worth a listen.

Mel B

Mel B/Scary Spice, however you want to refer to her, is back!! "For Once In My Life" is her first single in eight years and will be a part of her third solo album.

The video has some iffy dance moves, but I think that they really go along with the message of just living life for yourself and not caring what others think. And then there's all of that stripping and the awkward moment where she makes out with herself...yea, it's an interesting video...

The song itself is straight up sexy. The girl sounds just as great as ever and I love the beat. It's Mel B, therefore it is worth a listen. It's a great song, therefore it is worth at least two listens.

The Gregory Brothers

Country music is a foreign concept to me. I know a few Carrie Underwood songs, Kellie Pickler has some good ones as well. Oh and Kelly Clarkson, she just released "Tie it Up" a few months ago. That was a good one.

As you can see, my knowledge of country music is expansive...and by expansive I mean I know nothing about it.

Jenna sent me a link to this video of The Gregory Brothers singing Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" and I have to say, it's an interesting take on the original. I like the use of folk/country instruments, but I prefer the tempo of Miley's original version better.

Otherwise, it's a cool take on a relatively new song and it's worth a listen.

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Katy Perry

This song is interesting. I can't say that I like it all that much, but it's Katy Perry, so that automatically makes it worth a listen in my book.

"Dark Horse" will be her 6th track on Prism, which is set to release Oct. 22. It features Juicy J and it definitely has a unique sound.

The 1975

My girl Amber introduced me to The 1975 and I have to say, they're pretty great. If you enjoy good music, then you won't be able to get enough of their awesome sound and if you simply enjoy British accents, you will LOVE them.

"Chocolate" is definitely my favorite of their songs (most likely because whenever I walk into the studio, it's on...thanks again to Amber).

Their accents give this song a sound that is indescribable. All I can say is that it is a phenomenal song and definitely worth a listen.

Karmin

Karmin is one of my favorite rising stars and has been for a few years. Most people know them for their single "Brokenhearted", but that isn't what first got them noticed.

Originally, Karmin was a duo who posted covers of songs on YouTube. "Look At Me Now" was one of those covers. Check it out here:

Since "Brokenhearted", Karmin has put out another track called "Acapella". I'm not going to lie, I find one part of the song to be a bit iffy and I personally would recommend re-recording it without the line, but the rest of the song is great! The beat is fun and the story behind the lyrics is a good one as well. "Acapella" is worth a listen, but I would even more so recommend some of their covers.

Kelly Clarkson

WARNING: I am about to throw a mini pity party, but I promise, there is a point to it.

Four days, I've had a migraine and I feel like crap. Yesterday and today haven't been my days. I've spilled two open cans of Diet Coke, cried at work over the silliest things, whined over nothing and have even been annoying myself with all of these daily incidents. Because of this, I feel like it's the PERFECT day to bring out my never fail, feel good, pick yourself back up off of the ground Kelly Clarkson song, and no, it's not "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)".

For true Kelly Clarkson fans, this song is OLD, as it's from her Stronger album. To fans who might not purchase her CD's or to straight up Kelly haters, this song may be unknown.

It is one of my favorites from the album, it's called "The Sun Will Rise" and it features Kara Dioguardi (you may know her from American Idol).

It's an uplifting song that just makes you feel good no matter what kind of day you've had and that's why "The Sun Will Rise" is worth a listen.

Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo. What a stud!

He’s a personal favorite of mine, but this song, “Marry Me”, just takes my breath away and makes me tear up because all I can envision is Jordin Sparks hearing the song for the first time on the radio and J-Derulo there on one knee with the most amazing rock in hand.

Ok, so ridiculous daydreaming aside, what an amazing song!! I can’t say this enough, the song is worth a listen!!!
