P!nk, Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson - The Cry Playlist

Do you have those songs that can just evoke tears with a single strum of the guitar or one word sung? Some days you just have to take those songs, assemble a playlist and cry it out.

Personally I do my crying in the shower with a beer in hand, but that's besides the point.

A good cry list needs to have something where the lyrics can build you up. Like Kelly Clarkson's "The Sun Will Rise":

Another good choice is anything by Coldplay. For me "Fix You" does the trick:

And if you really want to see the tears flow, try P!nk's "I Don't Believe You":

Quite honestly blog readers, today has been a day. One that I don't really care to relive any time soon, but thankfully for us we have music. And music is the best pick-me-up. And let's be real...sometimes you just need to cry it out to start feeling better.

What's on your cry playlist?

Grace VanderWaal

Who saw this?? They're calling her the "next Taylor Swift". Thoughts??

Personally, I have to agree. This girl is something special!

The Struts

I have an addiction. A Struts addiction.

Seriously though, their music is beyond words. In my opinion, the phrase "worth a listen" just falls short of what these guys are.

Their appearance is unique, to say the least. Their songwriting abilities are top notch. Their sound is brilliant. All of these things can be seen in "Could've Been Me":

I love a band that can make you feel things. Heartache, joy, straight-up bad assery. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you The Struts with "Only Just a Call Away":

I was able to see them in concert not too long ago and I have to say, the level of energy is unmatched by many other acts I've seen. The outfits are 80s rocker influenced with some added flair. They opened the show with this next song, "Roll Up":

I don't know why, but I just love the big top sound at the end.

And lastly, I give you "The Ol' Switcheroo" because it's one of my favorites. Enjoy!

The Struts have talent and heaps of it. I'm so excited to watch their career develop.

Grace feat. G-Eazy

I'm a huge Lesley Gore fan and to say I was a bit hesitant to listen to this track is an understatement. I'm usually not a fan of remakes, especially when they vary so much from the original.

Grace really kept the essence that was Lesley Gore. The addition of G-Eazy was nice. Ok I'll admit it, I thought it was going to suck. Rap in the middle of a sexy, smooth ballad? Nope. But I can't lie, I love it. Not more than the original (let's not get too carried away here), but it's a great track in its own right.

The lyrical story still makes sense, and the beat is true to the original. Simply put, this track is a beautiful tribute to Lesley's legacy and I will be purchasing this track.

PVRIS

A little Paramore-esk, powerful vocals and lyrics filled with emotion. The perfect way to describe PVRIS (pronounced Paris). A friend actually suggested this group to me a week or so ago. I have to say, after listening to one song they have became one of my new favorites. Check out the songs below to see why:

'You and I' starts out slow, but it builds quickly. As soon as the chorus hits, the drums and guitar turn up the volume. Pair that with Lyndsey's powerhouse voice and the killer lyrics and you have a hit!

'Smoke' is another track that blows me away. Lyrically it's solid. "Oh, you're killing me right now. I think it's time you burn me down.

Once again Lyndsey kills it vocally! The slight rasp mixed with her soulful rock sound make her voice stand out above the rest. This group is one to watch out for!

More to come on PVRIS after March 14th as they're coming to town and I can't miss the opportunity to hear them live! This group is more than worth a listen in my book!
