Krewella

Krewella isn't necessarily a new group, in fact they came together in 2007, but their music is just recently getting some top 40 radio love. Their latest is called "Live for the Night".

The original version is great and the club remixes floating around YouTube are pretty sweet as well due to the song's amazing beat. If you get a chance, look some of those up as well, but make sure you check out the original first because "Live for the Night" is definitely worth a listen.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez is one of the few Disney stars to move on to something bigger and better after her childhood acting days. Even my girl, Kelly Clarkson, understands her awesomeness!
Besides just being straight up classy, Selena Gomez has some great music as well. Her newest single is called "Slow Down", but don't let the title fool you. It still has a great pop beat with an extremely catchy chorus.

Quite honestly, anything by Selena Gomez is worth a listen.

Avicii & Aloe Blacc

While I know this isn't the newest of songs, it's the song of the day because it's been on repeat in my car for the past 24 hours.

Avicii's "Wake Me Up" has a Mumford & Sons sound with a tempo like a night club. And the vocals!!! Let me just say that Aloe Blacc is phenomenal! I will be looking into some of his other music for sure!

"Wake Me Up" is definitely worth a listen and the video is pretty entertaining as well.

P.S. Please excuse my scattered thoughts in this post. My brain is fried today!

Mary Lambert

By now, if you haven't heard "Same Love" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (feat. Mary Lambert), then you've clearly been living under a rock. A few days ago, Lambert released an extension of her collaboration with the duo entitled "She Keeps Me Warm".

Lambert's song features the same message of acceptance, but tells it in a slightly different way. Her new single celebrates the love between two females and explores the differences between their same-sex romance and a "traditional" heterosexual love story, which btw...there are no differences.

Love is love.

Mary Lambert's amazing voice and empowering lyrics are definitely worth a listen.

Christina Perri

Christina Perri is more than just the girl who sings "Jar of Hearts". In fact, I would argue that "Jar of Hearts" isn't her best song from Lovestrong, but this argument can be settled at a later date.

Truth is, the girl has been working on some new music and rumor has it, a new album. In March, she debuted a new song at the House of Blues in Anaheim and I just so happened to have stumbled upon it today. The song is called "Trust" and it is beyond words.

Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony: They're sort of like everyday girl meets Spice Girls meets awesomeness. And really, who doesn't love the Spice Girls?!

Fifth Harmony is an all-female group that placed third in Season 2 of The X Factor and has since released "Miss Movin' On", which was the group's first single.

The song is definitely worth a listen and the group as a whole is worthy of some serious recognition, as the post-breakup anthem has killer lyrics with a beat that makes you want to sing at the top of your lungs.

Don't believe me? Check out "Miss Movin' On" here:

Kelly Clarkson

Yesterday was full of road trips to numerous towns, which didn't allow me to update with a song of the day. Because of this, I will introduce you to two of my favorite songs, both of which have an even bigger meaning for me today.

Both are Kelly Clarkson songs (shocker).

Both are Kelly Clarkson songs that you may have not heard of before.

They're not singles.

They're just great music that went undiscovered off of her many albums.

The first is called "Maybe" and is from "My December". The cool thing about that album is that all of the songs were written by Kelly for Kelly. While the album didn't do so hot on the charts, it holds some of my favorite Kelly songs because they're so personal and the lyrics are relatable to almost every person at one point or another.

The second is called "Cry" and is from "All I Ever Wanted". This song was covered by Glee and is one of her best in my opinion. Who can't relate to a song about heartbreak? Why the song got zero radio love, I have no clue, but I guess I am ok with that because not-so-well-known songs you have to search to find are usually the best.

Earlier you read that these songs had an even deeper meaning for me today versus any other day and that is because I am hitting the road after this post and taking a 5-6 hour drive to see my girl, Kelly Clarkson perform with Maroon 5! Words can't even begin to describe how excited I am for this journey!

Signing off! Prepare for concert updates tomorrow!!

Ellie Goulding

Currently, this is my favorite song and has been for a few weeks now. Ellie Goulding's "Burn" is one of her best and is deserving of some serious love!

Imagine Dragons

Song of the day: "Demons" by Imagine Dragons, which is quite honestly one of the greatest songs on their album "Night Visions". First and foremost, if you have not checked out the full album, do so. Now where to buy the album from is the question, and yes, it is an important one BECAUSE depending on where you purchase it or listen to it, you may not get all of the songs.

At Target, which is the place with the best value, you can get the entire CD with 18 AMAZING tracks. If you go to Spotify or even iTunes, that offer doesn't exist. Do yourself a favor, get it from Target. The extra songs are worth it!

Onto the song itself: Wow. Just wow. It does start off a bit slow, so if you are one of those people who can't dig a song that drags in the speed department, keep listening. Once it gets to the chorus, you will want to hit the repeat button. Don't believe me, I promise you won't make it more than 30 seconds into the song before you fall in love with their sound.

At the end of their official video, you will see a link to the Tyler Robinson Foundation and a video clip of Tyler himself enjoying an Imagine Dragons concert. The Tyler Robinson Foundation helps families who are dealing with childhood cancer. While I realize many groups have a charity they are passionate about, not many feature them in their music videos. Way cool!

In summary: Check out "Demons" and the rest of the "Night Visions" album as well as the Tyler Robinson Foundation.

Bonnie McKee

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, then you already know of my absolute love and adoration for this song and the video.

Bonnie McKee writes hit songs for just about everyone but herself, which is such a shame because the girl can sing! While she still collaborates with others, she has begun to put herself first with her new, chart-rising single, "American Girl".

Based off this song alone, I can't wait for an entire album.

The original video that hit YouTube featured numerous stars lip syncing to McKee's track, which was AWESOME! I mean who can get Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, Kiss, Tommy Lee, Jane Lynch, Jason Derulo and more into one video? I'll tell you who, Bonnie McKee can and she did.

Check out the epic video here:

My friend Amber saw this video and knew that we had to recreate it with the radio station we work at as well as its listeners, Bonnie McKee (so blessed that she sent us footage for our video) and a few other celebrity guests.

Check out our version here (videography by Amber Vokt and editing by myself):

Since the release of both her video and ours, Bonnie has put out an official music video, which in my opinion, isn't as awesome as the first, but I still love the track and the singer.

Keep a look out for Bonnie McKee! She's going places!

KurtHugo Schneider & Macy Kate

For those of you who don't know, I am a HUGE KurtHugo Schneider fan. If you haven't already, subscribe to his YouTube channel. The guy is a musical genius who produces some amazing covers of songs as well as original music.

Today I stumbled across a video he made back in March 2013, but it's still extremely relevant. The track is titled "PINK MEDLEY!! (ft. Macy Kate)" and it is just that, a medley of some of P!nk's best songs (you're welcome for stating the obvious).

If you love P!nk, then you will love this deconstructed version of some of her biggest rock chart-toppers. If you don't love P!nk, then there is no help for you. JUST KIDDING.

But seriously, if you don't love P!nk, I encourage you to still give this medley a shot as it is totally different than the traditional rock beats and man-hater lyrics P!nk is known for.

Picking up where I left off

I'm going to keep this post short and sweet, mainly because there isn't a whole lot to say. Just that it's been about a year since my last blog post, so instead of continuing where I left off, I've decided to start fresh.

Hope you all enjoy the new and improved, "Worth a Listen"!
